Pepin of Landen (°Landen c580 – febr 27^th 640) was Mayor of

the Palace of Austrasia under the Merovingian king Dagobert I ,

and ancestor of the Carolingian dynasty of French kings .

Ook dit jaar vindt in Gent de Schotse Beurs plaats: Tijdens de Schotse Beurs 2012 zullen er wederom prachtige thematische werken tentoongesteld worden uit de reeks “CAPTURING THE LIGHT OF SCOTLAND” van “Radan” André Devlaeminck , kunstfotograaf – pictorialist en vaste waarde van de beurs .

De “eye-catchers” 2012 zijn adembenemende panoramische pictoriale atmosferische beelden van de “QUEEN’S VIEW” aan de LOCH TUMMEL , PERTHSHIRE , in de buurt van PITLOCHRY. Koningin Victoria zou in 1866 voor het eerst “het zicht ” bewonderen. Een andere versie bestaat als zou “Isabella of Mar” (c. 1277 – 12/12/1296), de eerste vrouw van Robert the Bruce, deze plaats haar naam gegeven hebben. Zij was de grootmoeder van Robert II of Scotland, stichter van de ROYAL HOUSE OF STUART . Zij stierf evenwel nog voor Robert werd gekroond als “King of Scots” en is bijgevolg nooit koningin geweest.

Het Nieuwsblad bracht vandaag een artikel over André Devlaeminck “Radan” die Gertrudis heeft afgebeeld in het kader van de 800ste verjaardag van Landen.

In 2011 heeft Landen zijn 800ste jaar als stad gevierd. Om deze verjaardag te vieren hebben zij in de loop van het jaar 2011 meerdere feestelijke activiteiten opgezet. De kunsten die een link hebben met Landen maakten deel uit van het programma.

Kunstfotograaf André Devlaminck (aka RADAN) uit Landen had Kimberly Schemmekes uit Landen meegebracht, zij stond voor zijn lens als model voor zijn versie van de mystieke Landense Geertrui.
